About Orie Africa

Built for the market, not the mall

We're on a mission to bring every local African trader into the digital economy — simply, affordably, and through the tool they already use every day.

Our Mission

To introduce local African traders to the possibility of e-commerce wealth — making it as easy and accessible as possible, while solving the chaos of manual WhatsApp sales.

Our Story

Why we built Orie

The name Orie comes from the Igbo word for market day — the day when traders gather, goods move, and communities thrive. That energy has always existed in Nigeria. The only thing missing was a bridge to the digital world.

Across Nigeria and Africa, millions of talented, hardworking traders are running real businesses entirely through WhatsApp. They're taking orders in chats, tracking stock in notebooks, chasing payments manually, and losing sales simply because the tools built for e-commerce were never built for them — too expensive, too complex, too foreign.

Orie Africa was founded by Ogonna Okafor to change that. The vision was simple: take everything a modern online store needs — AI, payments, inventory, customer management, marketing — and put it inside WhatsApp. No app to download. No website to build. No dollars to spend on foreign subscriptions. Just your phone, your customers, and a platform that works the way Africa works.

Every decision we make — from our Naira pricing to our WhatsApp-first design — is guided by one question: does this make it easier for a local seller in Lagos, Port Harcourt, or Kano to make more money?

What we stand for

🌍

Africa First

Everything we build is designed for the African context — Naira pricing, WhatsApp as the primary channel, and features that solve real local problems, not Silicon Valley problems.

Radically Simple

If a market woman in Onitsha can't use it in 30 minutes, we haven't done our job. Simplicity isn't a feature — it's the product.

📈

Seller Success

We win when our sellers win. Every feature we build, every pricing decision we make, is measured by one thing: does it help Nigerian traders make more money?
